PRIMARY

In the Primary grade, children begin to discover their sense of identity and start to develop self awareness as well as the continuously evolving world around. Pursuit of academic excellence as independent learner constructing their knowledge based on their experience is our approach. We focus on developing their critical thinking, collaborative learning and analytical skills. Thus, helping them to understand their own learning process and wise choices on how to move forward.
The process of teaching and learning is exploratory. The domains that we develop for this age group are as follows:

• Language 
  1. Pre-Reading (age: 3+) progressive to reading (age:4+)
  2. Pre-Writing (age: 3+) progressive to writing (age:4+)

• Motor 
  1. Fine
  2. Gross Motor

• Cognition

The aforesaid helps to build a strong understanding of concepts and gives a good idea of child’s readiness to move ahead.

PRE-PRIMARY

Our Fundation Years Curriculum is guided by the fundamental principle of child development and aims at nurturing lifelong learners who exhibit a positive attitude and disposition of learning.

Children being innately curious are given opportunities to relate to the world they live in. Thus, making learning a meaningful experience.

The express purpose is habit formation and teaching them autonomy. Foundation of learning are laid by teaching children to follow rules, take turns, share, listen to instructions and realising that the learning is an enjoyable activity. Autonomy helps build the base for children to develop their strengths and interest all through play. STS will use the Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) which is an approach to teaching learning based on research on how young children develop and learn.

Focus remains on individual, social and cultural appropriateness focussing the active engagement of the learner. Some of the examples of activities at the level are:

• Rhymes, songs, picture reading, sound games, word games, show-and-tell, draw and talk, dramatisation and role play, circle time etc.
• Running, jumping, hopping, crawling, climbing, kicking, sliding, pulling, pushing, throwing, swinging etc.
• Colouring, painting, pasting, tearing, drawing, finger painting, folding, using play dough/clay, pouring, beading etc.
• Matching, sorting, classifying, sequencing, naming, building blocks, identifying etc.
• Sand play, water play, clay, craft, movement games etc.
• Team games, storytelling, caring for plants and animals, dress ups, field trips etc.
